Forged Steel Pipe Fittings Socket Weld Class3000 - 190W
Socket Weld fittings are defined in ASME spec B16.11 and they are typically used in smaller diameter applications only (ie. under 2" or occasionally to 4"). With a Socket Weld, a pipe is inserted into a recessed area of the fitting and both the pipe and fitting are square cut (no need for bevelled end preparation like Butt Weld, which allows for easy alignment, welding, and installation). Socket Weld generally resist about 1/2 the strength of Butt Weld. Normally, the price of Socket Weld fittings is higher than Butt Weld fittings, but the extra time and cost of Butt Weld is higher for installation. We stock a limited range of Butt Weld and Socket Weld pipe fittings for small projects related to our hose and fitting options.
